Transmission, coolant & brake fluid service in Leslieville, Toronto

Oil isn't the only fluid that wears out. Transmission fluid, coolant and brake fluid all break down with time and kilometres, and replacing them on schedule is cheaper than the repairs they prevent.

Fluid services we do

  • Transmission fluid service, including CVT and dual-clutch transmissions
  • Coolant flush and refill
  • Brake fluid flush
  • Power steering fluid service
  • A check of every fluid level at each visit

Why each one matters

Transmission fluid cools and protects the gears and clutches. Old fluid can cause rough or delayed shifts, and many CVTs have specific fluid service intervals.

Coolant keeps the engine from overheating in summer and freezing in winter, and it protects the cooling system from corrosion. Old coolant loses that protection.

Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which lowers its boiling point and can make the pedal feel soft and corrode brake parts from the inside.

The right fluid for your car

Transmissions and cooling systems are picky. We use the fluid type your manufacturer specifies, from your owner's manual or service information, and tell you if it changes the price.

Fluid service questions

How much does a transmission fluid service cost?

A transmission fluid service is $120 & up. The price depends on the transmission type and how much fluid it takes. A brake fluid flush is $90 & up, and a coolant flush is quoted for your vehicle.

How often should I change transmission fluid?

Follow your owner's manual. Intervals vary a lot between makes and transmission types, and city stop-and-go driving often counts as severe service, which means shorter intervals.

How often should brake fluid be changed?

Many manufacturers call for it every two to three years, but check your manual. A soft or spongy pedal is a reason to check it sooner. See brake repair.

My car is overheating. Is it the coolant?

It can be low or old coolant, but also a leak, a stuck thermostat, a failed fan or a water pump. Pull over and let it cool before opening anything. Our guide on an overheating engine explains what to do.
